Stand By Me- Oasis

The thing that makes this video great is that it encourages a second viewing. This is created by its storyline that all fits together at the end, showing that what we see at first is not always the way people are. This is signified by the lyric, 'nobody knows the way its gonna be', which also highlights the relationship between lyrics and video. As this is what the video is all about.

The other thing that makes this video appealing is its twist, sometimes music videos are creative but do not always challenge the viewer to think for themselves. When I watched this for the first time I myself believed that the people in the video were doing things against the law, and this is what oasis are highlighting. The fact that society pre judges people based on stereotypes without seeing the full picture.

The video also makes people self evaluate themselves , a lot of people myself included would have judged these people upon appearance and after watching the video we think to ourselves, 'do I judge people?'
This man (see right), will often be stereotyped as a thug, who is very aggressive, which is illustrated in this picture. This is the stage at which people judge this man, we assume he is hurling abuse at somebody. When we watch more of the video we see that he is actually shouting to warn people of the out of control motorcycle. There is also another example of a man who spits on the floor, we then see the police walk round the corner and he runs off. We just assume that is a low life who has no respect for the place he lives. Infact he has spat out his drink in shock, when he sees the bike about to hit the girl. He then sprints over to her and saves her life.
